Next Coach?

Suspect they'll stick with Slot.
Or twist with Alonso.

I'd say it was 50-50 at this stage. . .But maybe put it all on red?

I’d agree with you if it was Gerrard. Alonso is just as much Bayern and Real as he is Liverpool so I dont really think its that much of an issue
This.

Cesc had more affinity to Arsenal than Alonso to Liverpool and the former didn't give a f**k playing for their across the city rival.

Whole thing is blown out of proportion just because its Liverpool. They'd be better off with Iraola over Alonso anyway if they want that Klopp heavy metal football back at Anfield.

I feel I might be very lonely in this but I just dont want Alonso because of the inevitable bullsh*t around him and us if Liverpool need a new manager some time next season. The media will be all over it, how he wants to leave and go to where he belongs etc.
The media really like that Liverpool narrative and if we got Alonso it would be constantly mentioned his connection to Liverpool. Unlike Rio Ngumoha the new wonder kid and Liverpool star . . .now which academy did he come from?

Outside of the box. I wonder if any of our 5 Sporting Directors can think outside of it. Or maybe they have secretly already lined up Carlo or Julian Naglesmann for after the World Cup? Or there is a secret deal to bring in Luis Enrique? Sigh. Deep sigh.

Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart lead the recruitment team
Joe Shields is sporting director for scouting and talent
Dave Fallows leads football development
Sam Jewell looks after global recruiting and is heavily involved with Strasbourg

Scouting and recruitment and development is their game. Surely they got this

I'd love some heavy metal football at the bridge. Got to be better than the S club seven loop we've been on reachign for the stars the past few years

The only alternative I can see that’s available realistically is Maignan, and everytime I’ve watched him he looks like 2nd season Mendy.

We f**ked up beyond belief going for Jorgensen over Mamardashville the other summer.

I’d, personally, be happy to keep Sanchez around as he’s a perfectly capable Goalkeeper, he’s just a proper sh*t footballer. To mentor/challenge Penders.
Me too.

Given our medical team's overly cautious approach and the fact they've already experienced Poch, I struggle to see why Iraola is a preferred candidate.

I'd have alonso just to stick two fingers up to the dippers... Might trash his career with us but if we can play like his leverkusen side, it would be a massive improvement. They were really good to watch.

i'd have Fabregas simply as a club connection... plus i think he'll become a decent manager.

Dare I say it Carrick has done a pretty decent job at United? Wild card candidate for me...

I would also be happy with Glasner, I know hes not the preferred candidate but I think he sets his sides up really well and Palace have been a cup successful club under him. With better players I think he'd do a better job and wouldnt have an issue building a side around our best talents as he has done at Palace with Olise and Mateta etc.

But the club will stack this decision again and Marco mid table Silva will be welcomed in on a ten year deal.

I have zero faith in theboard to get this right, or back the new manager with players he needs. Someone posted yesterday about how the club being a mid table club until the ten year mark and selling up would be a success to the owners. I totally agree with that (Kudos to the poster) becuase these clowns think Brighton are a well run club that deserves 60 million a season from us. Its a shame the scum who own us didnt look at the city or liverpool model and go right, we'll copy that. Dumb f**ks.

And Im not actually a fan of Iraola... He reminds me of a mate who joined the police... Our friendship ended soon after and I have bad cop vibes about the Spaniard.

Iraola going to Palace would be so weird. Bournemouth have a real chance of getting Champions League football next season, why would you give that up for Palace? No disrespect to them or anything, they have been a stable Premier League side for the most part, but they haven't finished higher than 10th in the league since they got promoted in 2013. I could see them doing a Wolves any season now too. They can't keep selling all of their best players without suffering on the pitch.
Bournemouth have about 12 fans though. It's just a very dull place to be manager.

Palace have a stadium refurb on the horizon which will put their capacity not far behind ours and so their ceiling is a lot higher than Bournemouths who are already way beyond where they should be. Longer term, they are a better place to go to than Bournemouth.

If our new coach can have more influence in team matters and he is successful there will be less dependence on the (idiotic) SDs.

If the new coach fails again for what ever reasons then the self reflection wasnt thorough enough and Eghbali should be all over these fcukers with a pitchfork.

If these clowns dont realise that the heat is on then they are gonna be in trouble.

I could have written this entire post myself, except I don't have any friends in the police 😅

Pretty sure Carrick is going to end up as United's manager. I'd much rather him or Glasner than Iraola though.

I am simply not entertaining a manager who has managed these clubs (stadium capacities)

Rayo Vallecano: 14,708 seats
AFC Bournemouth: 11,307 seats
AEK Larnaca: 8,058 seats
CD Mirandés: 6,000 seats

Say what you like about the jobs he did there (and Lanarca is the only club with over a 40% win rate), but he's just very simply never had any pressure on him. Too much of a gamble.

🗣 @LaurensJulien: "They [Chelsea] have gone through the process of speaking to those managers [on the shortlist], not fully interviewing them, in the sense of, like there have been chats, and then some of them have presented already their project to the club, and what they would do, like Xabi Alonzo, for example, who apparently was quite impressive to the people that interviewed him."

Penders is an entirely unknown quantity. From what I've seen O'Neil has had him playing more traditionally, none of the extra roving defender stuff. Not sure I'd fancy him first choice from the off.
I haven't seen him much but I think that he did fine against Rayo, had some good saves. Now, I don't think that he's necessarily what we need right now or ready for the PL.

Yeah. He's still at least a good 2-3 seasons from being ready.

Trafford and Marmadashvilli are very much no2’s, in Traffords case for the foreseeable future.

See if either fancy being no1 at CFC. We can’t keep making do in goal.

Keep Sanchez as back up, leave Penders where he is and see if someone will take Jorgensen.

We need a new keeper and have done for years.

Im not so worried about the lack of pressure... Ultimately and sadly, we've become a mid table club so can the next manager get us up the table and competing at the top end of the table with the leagues top sides. That's all im really bothered about really.

Think pressure is huge in order to do that. Its a completely different game in getting a team like Brighton/Brentford/Bournemouth into the European places, to having a big team with a huge fanbase being consistent. The noise around it, the press conferences, every word analysed, every player movement, quote, reported on.

Bournemouth failed to win 11 games in a row this season. No one noticed. If you do that even at clubs like West Ham, Everton, Newcastle your getting abuse from your own fans. If you do that at a club like Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, you get abuse from both sets of fans.

Similarly, Alonso probably had no pressure at Leverkusen while he crumbled under the high pressure environment of Real Madrid.
