Similarly, Alonso probably had no pressure at Leverkusen while he crumbled under the high pressure environment of Real Madrid.
His sin? He had the nerve to try to implement tactics to overcome what had become a major issue post-Kroos: no midfield control. Various players with oversized egos told him to f**k off. He didn't crumble under pressure, he was chewed up and spat out by a dysfunctional organisation.

An organization that is behaving like the American government, where instead of addressing their own faults they are trying to distract us from something else, ala the Negreira case.

Them sacking Alonso is genuinely on par with us sacking Ancelotti in 2011.

Good analogy. Pérez's latest stunt: call an election. Another term for the person almost single-handedly responsible for the club's plight? Pfffft.

I agree, I was just responding to a particular take on some coaches by Bisright. Name it crumble under pressure or couldn't handle the highly poisonous changing room, but why would we think that Alonso can handle the present Club culture?

I think 99.5% of us understand that there is no landscape at this football club where any manager can succeed.

David Ornstein is reporting that not only are the club exploring a deal for Alonso (who is open to the move) but that more recruitment is planned. Getting Alonso is just the first step.

Doesn't go into detail if that means changes upstairs.

RM dwarfs Chelsea for poison.

Interesting. Ornstein is usually more reliable than most of them.

Supposedly a fight on the training pitch there this week. I can see why theyre considering Jose, would literally pick players up and dump them in a bin.

Would mean some players becoming available. I wonder if Mbappe would like a stint in west london, blue of France and Chelsea... only city could afford that bugger.

Tchouaméni and Valverde. It continued in the dressing room. Mourinho is as undisciplined and ego-driven these days as their worst offenders. Bring it on!

Here’s his quotes:

“The information we have is that Chelsea are exploring a deal for Xabi Alonso and that he would be open to this possibility. It would seem that Alonso is at the forefront of Chelsea’s minds at the moment but the process continues. Expect news in next days / weeks. (@David_Ornstein @TheAthleticFC podcast)”

This was what I was referring to.

Absolutely bring it on... Whatever we may think of Jose, (i still think he walks on water despite the united and Spuds thing) he is phenomenal box office.

BTW, can you imagine the smell at Anfield if we got top 4 over Liverpool with Alonso in charge! Its almost worth a punt just for that...
