Next Coach?

We weren’t worried about prem experience when we hired JM, Carlo, Conte, TT.

Where was Pep and Klopps Prem experience?

Top managers are top managers. Mid table prem managers are mediocre mid table prem managers who usually can’t handle top jobs like Potter.

Silva would be joke and show us all the clubs ambition and will not appease a toxic fan base. Disaster if it happens, we will be starting the new campaign already protesting.
Who do you really think that will be willing to join this mess, and we would actually be willing to appoint? One thing I know is that it will not be an inspiring appointment. we are at best looking at the best of a set of uninspiring options.

Looks like Iraola is close to be announced as next Palace manager. So that is one target off the table.

If it happens it says a lot. Perhaps the whole Maresca/Rosenior mess has finally twiged managers out there to avoid this ownership.

Of the options linked so far, I can see Silva joining because of his agent. I suspect Alonso is holding out for the Liverpool job. Filipe Luis will likely retain interest given he is out of work but there haven't been substantive rumours there. Fabregas will likely stay put. Seems like Xavi has already been ruled out.

What a joke this club is

Obviously Iraola has been told he will not have control of the team and so is prepared to go to Palace

No one of note will take this job

So much for the bollox we will change

He wouldn't have control there either to be honest.

I think Iraola is a smart man and is playing the long game. We are the perfect case study of why project managers shouldn't bite too much they can chew.

He's not going to jump into a big job right away when he's never managed a club that had to balance both the league and Europe. Palace is the perfect step up for him, especially if they are in the Europa League next season.

If you had said a manager had chosen Palace rather than explore a deal with us a few years ago it would have been ridiculous but it's now the obvious choice.

This is the debate we are all having. Will they change their sh*t project and hire a top manager (plenty available, more after WC) or is it another mediocre manager happy to pretty much do as they say?

I said at the very start of this process prepare to be underwhelmed and Silva for me would be very underwhelming and with a fan base already on the brink it would tell them all they need to know about the clubs ambition and would not unite the fans or I doubt stir the loins of the players either.

But why the hell would Iraola go from 6th place (can even get into CL) Bournemouth to 15th Palace as a step-up? Doesn't make any sense career wise.

Maybe if he replaced Howe at Newcastle I could still see his point, but Palace? So many other routes he could take, possibly even Atl. Madrid or Milan.

Well said. The money makes no sense; Bournemouth at least invest, and have exciting players. Glasner wants out because of a lack of investment.

His wages are going to 3x joining Palace judging by what Glasner is currently earning.

London.

Significantly better academy.

Better positioned to qualify for Europe every year.

I mentioned above that it's a good stepping stone to carry on and grow as a manager (now having to deal with Europe in the schedule) vs joining a big club, let alone a big club that is a poison chalice.

Interesting theory. If the Palace move is true, he's leaving a club that recruits shrewdly for a club that doesn't - one of the key reasons Glasner left - and, what's more, is going to lose Mateta and, quite possibly, Wharton. Steve Parish's priority is getting the new stand built.

Double post.

Silva seems likely. However Filipe Luis was a serious option when they went for Rosenior instead. He was ready to accept bluecos model, and may well have Thiago Silva as his assistant in an attempt to get the fans on-board.

More I think about it the more it seems a good chance of being what blueco do.

People need to stop asking if they will change the model with any degree of seriousness.

It will not happen. They are too stubborn to do so and don't have the money to do so.

I would probably prefer Filipe Luis over Silva, especially if we brought in Thiago as assistant. He may only have experience in Brazil but he did very well with Flamengo, and I think Thiago would be a great option as assistant.

I did see Thiago Silva in crowd on Monday, I thought why is he there hmmm! not a yes man but first JOB maybe!?, cos we ain't getting elite and elite I mean elite NOT Iraola, NOT Silva etc, above I saw a decent list, they were top draw managers except one, NOT Simeone, Atleti are the arsenal of spain, hes played arseoles 3 times and LOST x2 and a draw, remind anyone of someone? he has got panache, charisma, bit debonair, and I love him on touchline, and he would put fear into anyone especially players( I WOULD LOVE THAT), now all he's won Spanish league x2 and europa league x2 in 20 years, and spent a bundles, and on a player we had on loan twice, aint WON enough NOT GOOD FOOTBALL and the players he buys NA not having him, to think we could of had Luis, Naglesman, Flick anyone in the beginning really, we should start singing in last home game "we don't want Silva", "we want elite" we want a winner, and please please cane those clowns in crowd especially bohley and 5 directors of football and the egg, my blood starts to boil now gotta go grrrrr

They have changed it once, why can’t they change it again?

There are saleable players and gettable targets if they get the right manager.

We can’t all just say we are doomed, when we have options. If they get this appointment wrong and stay as they are yeah we are so we need to keep telling them until they listen or sack someone.

Then there really is no point discussing who's taking over.

If Pep agrees to work under this model then he'd be a terrible appointment.

The Todd spent too much, especially on wages so Clearlake forced him away from power to implement their business model. The only reason it started this way is the deal to buy Chelsea was so rushed Clearlake had other things to figure out so left it to Todd.

What we are now is what we will stay until BlueCo leave. That is the reality.

It can be discussed but the end will be the same as all the others in either:

  1. The head coach does a poor job and they have to sack him/let him leave (Potter, Rosenior, interim Lamps)
  2. The head coach does ok and then starts asking for things they don't want to give and he leaves (Poch, Maresca).
