Poch In or Out? The Mega-thread Merged

I voted yes. I'd like to give him more time, I think he's been handed a bunch of injured rather than bad players and I don't know who else would get the job.
Even so I'd sack him. I think he's done very poorly NO IDENTITY. There are so many things being done wrong. It's clear other managers do better with far less. I don't like that he has his son on the coaching staff. I don't like the system, I would if it worked but it doesn't. I don't like people playied out of position except out of necessity. Chillwell as winger was a sign of a crap mindset and culture. Mostly I don't like the way the team just doesn't play like a team.

Chilwell on the wing, Cucurella at RB, COlwill at LB. He could help himself out by even just doing the very basics of playing players in their natural positions, but no, even that he's f**king up.

We really don't know what Clearlake will do and to be honest that is probably the most frustrating thing about their ownership. The scripted responses they give to the fanbase.

Poch's short contract can either be seen as something ownership will have no qualms about terminating early or they view the 2 years adequate time to analyze his management. We could be 17th for all we know and Clearlake would still want another season to analyze him.

Now that the initial emotion from today's gone and reflected on our situation, I don't think we're too far off challenging for top 4 next season. The owners have laid out a project which can serve as a great foundation for a successful team, however, the massive issue is we just don't have enough experience in the team which has been a big oversight from the board. If in January and the summer we focus on getting in 3/4 experienced top players including a keeper and a striker, I think we have the makings of a top side.

I trust that 80% of the young players we have are potential top players. But we need a manager that can make them play together as a team, is that Poch? I'm not sure, so far his tenure has been very underwhelming, I sympathise with the injury situation especially up front, being without Nkunku and also failing to sign a top striker has hindered us badly. That being said, there is no way we should be as toothless up top as we are and the players at times play like absolute strangers.

The quality of the squad is questionable because we don't know what levels these players will reach. That being said, there is no way this is a properly coached side. No way.

This is why I am indifferent at the moment. If they sack him they sack him. If they keep him they keep him. Not sure there is any manager available right now that is a significant upgrade.

I'd get Sean Dyche in.

He's working with absolute dross at Everton but he's got them organised and working their socks off for the shirt.
I said last season during Potter’s tenure that we should get him. He’s the type of coach that would break any player’s balls for not giving their all every game. He may not be Pep tactically but, we needed and still need some steel coached into the team.

I’ve voted no. Is he the man to take us to the next level? Maybe no, but he needs a season and reevaluate at the end. This season we’ve seen some of the best football since Tuchel’s last games, even though results have not been the best. We’ve played Liverpool, Arsenal and City off the park. We even were the better team at Spurs after the first 20 minutes when they still had 11 on the pitch (their fault that they’re a bunch of dirty cnuts). We were the better team against Brighton and even with ten men we didn’t let them have many clear chances. We were better that West Ham away until we went one man down, and should have beaten them if not for Enzo missing a penalty. And there are other games that I can’t recall where we were better but did not take the chances. We’ve been crap since the international break, yes, and some other games. But, overall, I think that those saying that we haven’t been this bad are clearly rewriting history.

Roy Hodgson is under pressure at Crystal Palace and they're only 3 points behind us, the standards have dropped so much

Arsenal's squad vs Brentford

Raya - 28

White - 26

Saliba - 22

Gabriel - 25

Zinchenko - 26

Rice - 24

Havertz - 24

Odegaard - 24

Saka - 22

Martinelli - 22

Jesus - 26

Only 5 players that are 25 and over, nobody over 30

Chelsea's squad vs Everton

Sanchez - 26

James - 23

Disasi - 25

Badiashile - 22

Cucurella - 25

Enzo - 22

Caicedo - 22

Murdyk - 22

Gallagher - 23

Palmer - 21

Broja - 22

So that's 3 players 25 and over. Sterling usually starts, which makes it 4. Our squad is only slightly younger than Arsenal's, yet they're in 2nd and we're 11th.

I don't think age is a good enough excuse to justify Poch's tenure.

In that case try comparing their years playing in the Premiership ?

No, I think we need to give him the season. If we end up in relegation zone at any point in the season then we'll have to pull the plug.

I expected a hard season, but we're doing worse than I expected unfortunately. The midfield situation is the most disappointing, I had high hopes for it clicking but it's just not working well at all.

A big argument against it and I'm sure most people will agree, what's the alternative? The most common name is Jose and that's a big flat-out no for me. So I don't see any Frank Lampard to Thomas Tuchel conversion here, that's not going to happen with these players. Too many inexperienced kids in the side. I think it's evident we've made a mistake in letting too many players go at once all in one window and the gamble isn't paying off. We should've at the very least kept some players like Kovacic who would've offered something to the team instead of letting him go for chips to City.

Or even just brought in some experience.
Every player on the pitch demonstrates a positive attitude and exceptional effort, yet they struggle to score goals. The core issue seems to lie with the manager's approach, particularly in training strategies. It appears that Pochettino is unable to find a solution to this problem, which suggests he may not be the suitable choice for leading Chelsea

The manager can never be completely excused, but I find it hard to believe he's the main culprit.

Keep in mind we've got one of the worst distance covered in the league, our players are not working as hard as other teams so I'm not sure I agree with that point.

Exceptional effort, besides Gallagher who is a player I criticise a lot due to his poor quality is probably the only player who works his socks off in that team every game. And our attitude is piss poor, we drop our heads as soon as it's not going our way far too often.

I voted "yes" and the mid week match at Old Trafford made it clear we're not going anywhere with him in charge. United are the most undeserving team to be that high in the standings in all the leagues in Europe and it is not an exaggeration at all. They are an absolute joke, concede goals for fun and everybody from PL to League Two can run over their midfield like it's a pile of sh*te. They are a complete mess, yet we're probably the only club this season they've looked like prime Barcelona against. It is frustrating, it is dissapointing, it is a disgrace. Next thing you know Bournemouth goes to Old Trafford and humiliates them w/o even breaking a sweat.

I even have my doubts we'd have beaten Spurs with two more men if it was not for their manager suicidal high line. Spurs even had a goal disallowed for the smallest of offsides and remember their two other big chances! With two men down!!!

You want to beat Guardiola, Klopp, Arteta and up and coming clubs like Newcastle and Villa that will only get better? Then be brave and go get the next big thing and that manager is De Zerbi. It is our chance to beautiful football and finally his chance to a huge club and to go against the best managers with equal chances.

For me, Poch is more bearable than Potter, at least he got us points ( not a lot) against the likes of City, Liverpool, Arsenal. At least he showed when we get it right, we could be a decent team. Against lower teams ( United included), he's been useless, that's the price we pay for not having a striker and no real contributors for goals in other parts of the field. Sack him now or soon will just prove again the so called project is nothing but a get rich quick scheme, if fails reboot it and do more of the same. Boehly could either let Poch ride out the rest of the season ( we aren't going to get relegated thanks to the promoted teams), or spend another 100M buying what Poch demands. Any good manager or the next big thing will stay away from Chelsea, it's a mad house despite a decent pay cheque, and potentially ruins managing career. Has Potter or Lampard got any decent job offers yet?

But the quality of the individuals concerned definitely is.

Sacking Poch won’t make a damm bit of difference until the players up their game. Give him his two years and like I keep repeating like a broken record adjust your expectations we are a 10-8th place TEAM now at best. Individually we have good players but together they are no where near what they should be now.
We are a 12th - 15th team at best on form over the last 12 months. Individually we have expensive players that has been deemed to equate to potential. Therefore we hope that we have good Individual players. Many of us remain unconvinced

He’s not even had a full squad to work with.
But that is contrary to all comments coming out of the club at the beginning, where he had to trim his bloated squad. We couldn’t even get all of the players out on loan hence why a totally unproven kid in Wahington is regularly on the bench. He has had a full squad. Injuries have impacted us as they have for numerous other clubs. The difference is that due to the intentional policy of this recruitment management team under the remit of the ownership, as soon as any of the first team players are injured there is immediately no depth to call upon. Our bench is ridiculous but these are second string players on the bench, not fourth string last reserve players.
