my friend son was killed at prston rip gary lee

the twins were ginger i presume ? Anybody remember Kojak ? Derby scary ?! Liverpool and Everton yes, especially the night games, i remember that you used to be wary of getting cut and your clothes nicked if you happened to get stranded

I don't remember their hair colour. Kojak: big black bloke called John. Bald head, always wore a denim waistcoat.

Yeah I heard that. What was it, heart attack?
I knew him well and played for his football team Chelsea Spartans. He had a very near miss on his pushbike and died of a heart attack a week or so later. Scariest moment I had with him was at Wimbledon one boxing day. We'd been at Southampton for a morning kick off and 400 of us piled off at Wimbledon Station and went to Plough Lane to have a go at Pompey. Unfortunately there were about 6000 of them all around the ground. Best not be be near Kojak with his Chelsea patches on the sleeveless denims so we went right around and got out the ground just as the half time whistle went. We were just walking past the exit gates as they opened and half a dozen of us got chased half way up Queens Road.

do you rememberthe league cup final days when for once all the London clubs would join up to form an alliance to do the northerners, i came back from an away game at Derby to see the biggest mob of my life at St Pancras, with Chelsea, Millwall, arsenal etc

I can only remember teaming up with others when Man Utd were in town for a cup final, usually around Trafalgar Square. Scaffold poles fittings were flying through the air one year, all from the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery externsion being built. The only Londoners not there were Arsenal who Utd had played at Wembley earlier that day.

west ham and tottenham used to team up quite often in the mid seventies and appeared at Orient when we played them. I remember they left before the end, and a big mob of Chelsea looking for them afterwards

hmmm - this fond nostalgia is all well and good, but it was over 30 years ago and we are all now fat, balding and in our fifties - you buggers are making me feel ill!

Yes I remember London United: All I've got to say about it is .. if ever an alliance was doomed from the word go...

How right you are Hutch, the old bill would not let us all on the tube so everyone started turning on each other outside Kings Cross.

Had this discussion with Lofty a year or two ago on this site - it was obvious that Chelsea were never gonna fight alongside Tottenham, and even less likely for Millwall & West Ham to join up :)

i remember that the row started between arsenal and tottenham, everybody else at first seemed to be ok. The only firm that I have really seen Chelsea team up with is Glasgow rangers, and in days of old see a few faces in the north bank when the arsenal were playing spurs

I remember Chelsea and Millwall joining up a few times in the 70's, a lot of us from South London knew each other and were quite friendly - unless we were playing each other!

yes there was no animosity when we were not playing and went there a lot especially in the season that they nearly went up, mind you, you would have struggled to find a tear up at the old den in the old days as no-one went there. Having said that, the game at our place in 77 was a bit tasty, especially afterwards !

It was nothing to what went on at their place before the match.

i stood in the CBL that day and near the end of the game a few Chelsea went and stood with their Millwall mates, mind you we were only the second team to go in there.

not being as sentient as most of you, I have very little remembrance of specific years and the such, but I do remember quite vividly being alone on the tube with about a dozen Millwall who decided to rock the train enough to make it hit the tunnel wall.

Oh how we loved the sparks that flew, and I thought it was probably better to take my chances with a train crash than to tell them to grow up and stop f**king around.
