McCullum comes out & smashes 77 off just 25 balls. Taken the kiwis only 9 overs to get to 112. England's woeful bowling smashed all over the park...in the 6th over they were smashed for 30 odd runs alone.

But hey, look on the bright side - you've just got to forget about being whipped in your first 2 outings, re-group, and hope you can beat Sri Lanka to get 3rd in the group. That way you'll avoid the saffers (who'll no doubt finish 1st in Group B) in the quarters against whom you'd have no hope. You'd probably face India.

Jeez - I thought we'd be poor, and the NZ limited overs team is very good, but 123 all out is a massacre at this level of the game.

I'm off to read up about what happened.

 
P.s. Credit to Southee - very impressive bowling figures whoever, at this level, you play: 9 overs, 7(!) wickets for 33(!!) runs.

 
Maybe England are just trying the tactic of staging a Lazarus type revival like the last team to win the World Cup in Australia - Pakistan...cough, cough

It does seem very stupid of us to have excluded from the team our most successful ever batsman. It's hard to imagine another sport where that would be allowed to happen.

 
It's very worrying what has happened to England in the last year. We are a mess and the players just keep embarrassing themselves.

Alastair Cook hospitalised after dangerously prolonged laughing fit

Former England One Day International captain Alastair Cook is reportedly in intensive care after suffering what doctors have described as a laughing fit so severe, it became life threatening. 

University College Hospital confirmed a 30-year-old man was admitted at around 9am this morning suffering with shortness of breath and other breathing difficulties.

“We received an emergency call at around 8.30am reporting a man rolling around in convulsions of laughter which were preventing him from breathing properly,” a hospital source told us.

“A witness stated that the symptoms had started at approximately 3am this morning and had gotten progressively worse until reaching a critical point around 8am.”

“We understand the man had been undertaking his usual routine of sitting down to watch the televised World Cup Cricket, and at this stage we believe this to be the cause of the debilitating fits of laughter.”

Cook hospitalisedA neighbour of Cook, said he saw the former ODI captain receiving CPR in the front lawn of his garden, having earlier been seen skipping around it in a what appeared to be a home-made All Blacks outfit.

The neighbour told us, “He was doing something that I’m assuming was supposed to be a midnight Haka.”

“It was quite a sight.”

A family friend of Cook said he hoped to make a full recovery but that Doctors have warned him against a potentially fatal dose of England’s match against Scotland on Sunday

Yet they still got comfortably more than us!

 
After giving it a good go against Sri Lanka, I'm pretty confident that Afghanistan will beat England with consummate ease.

 
I think Australia and New Zealand are two incredibly strong teams, although we've still been awful. We did beat India twice comfortably a month ago so we should be beating Afghanistan and Scotland easily. 

Should.

 
England are unchanged and nobody in the world is surprised.

 
Or cares...we pose as much a threat to the top teams in this comp as Salah did to hazard's place in the chelsea team
