Now that my friend is an own goal and a half!! Never again will I waste time mocking BJD's affection for the Thompson Twins when I have that little nugget up my sleeve.

Haha. As I said it's a guilty pleasure.

The Cat Stevens Very Young is brilliant. It reminded me of this one I haven't heard for a while.

If you like that you should have been knocking around here on April the 1st, ask ethicalstrategy, he couldn't get enough of it!

What is interesting is that reading through this thread there is no mention of anything even remotely recent. Now the obvious assumption to make is that most modern music is churned out pap and can't hold a candle to the songs suggested in this thread. However my take on it is that reminiscence breeds sentimentality and we often (though not always) look back on songs more fondly because of the memories they implant in our minds.

So for arguments sake here are two 'recent' songs which I would say have all the ingredients to be considered as great pop songs in 15 years time by people who were in their teens when they came out but none of us have even come near suggesting them.

Ouch! That was a horrendous experience. Here's an antidote.

Meatloaf is just Celine Dion for bikers - one long winded ballad after another.
