Pants?? lmfao !!!!!! He's just won the previous two GT's in Spain and Italy whilst all of this was hanging over him, WADA on one shoulder the UCI on the other, he then turns up in France and puts in a performance better than everyone bar two (so far), the man is a bloody legend.

Yes, he's won the previous two  - the benefits of the specific drugs don't immediately wear off.  If you have enhanced your lung capacity artificially over many years, the effects won't vanish over night.  If I took enough speed,  I could win the f**king thing.  Legend, my arse.  Just another one who found a way to cheat the system and got found out.

If you truly have asthma, why on earth would you take up a sport that is one of the MOST taxing on the pulmonary system? 

If, however, you do a sport in which increased lung function and capacity  give you a huge advantage,  why on earth would you not claim to have a condition that allowed you to take MASSIVE doses of a drug that hugely increase lung function and oxygen take-up?

You might not have been around in the 70's when Boots the Chemist had a wonderful thing on the shelf called Bronchipax. You took one three times a day for asthma and similar conditions.  OR,  you took a packet of 6 in a pint of rough cider and you could run forever.  All the way home from Compton Dando village hall disco if necessary.

Wiggins was the same, getting parcels delivered from odd pharmaceutical companies  in the middle of races.  Cycling has long been riddled with drugs, and this is just another example of trying to get round the rules.

I honestly don't know why they don't just remove any restrictions and let the chemists decide the outcome.

 
Someone trying to ride a cycle tour like Le Tour de France or Giro d'Italia must be mad to do so without PED  :smile:

Drug detection is always one step behind in testing for new drugs, so I'm not convinced by anybody's negative test results.

I wonder what un-declared condition the welsh lad has got that needs treating by some chemical or other that we are yet to find out about.

I hope it was just that he is dead good and dead fit, but the other bloke and sir lord wiggins seemed to drop off the pace when their "asthma medicine" was discovered.

Nether you nor @coco can be happy with the drugs history of the Sky team and their doctors, can you?

If they are doing anything it just means they are better at it than all the other teams, that are also doing stuff. At this moment there's no concrete evidence against them, if there ever is then my opinion will change. Sky have moved the sport on when it comes to preparation, statistics, analysis etc. The programmes they have for the riders are ridiculously detailed, the tech they have is cutting edge. They are simply better than all the rest at this moment. Any nation taking umbrage can f**k off after years of doping by them all.

Fair enough, that was eventually my conclusion, remove all restrictions and let the medics decide.

And yes, all of them have been at it, all of the time.  I just get pissed off when we get all  holier-than-thou about it and use a frankly ridiculous claim of a medical condition to try to justify the fact that Froome was on drugs instead of just saying yep, it's a fair cop, but then so is everyone else.

Speaking as someone who has to use Salbutamol  for a genuine medical condition, and knowing that cycling is one of THE most pulmonary-intensive sports there is, I refuse to accept that anyone who genuinely has asthma would 

a:)  Choose competitive cycling as a career,  and

b) Be able to achieve those levels of ability.

That's all.

Team SKY in my opinion are full of crooks! Just my opinion. Chancers pushing the boundaries. 

Probably running all sorts of undetectable PED cocktails in amongst their 'medicine'. 

Having watched a fair bit of the tour this year, its no wonder they need drugs for the mountains especially. 

It is a ridiculously dirty sport.
