Safe Standing Area

Wondered how long that would take!
so, am i a victim of your superior intelligence, and your faux ignorance was a cunning trap to 'catch a micky', or are you actually an ignorant prick who beleives every lie those fleet street rags (one in particular) print?

I'm an ignorant twat that doesn't read the Sun but that tries to think for myself and believes in what I choose to believe in. This is not an arguement worth having however because I'll not change my opinion unless there is hard evidence to force me to do so and I know you'll never accept different to what you choose believe. On top of that, fault does not take away from the tragedy that happened and so squabbling with the likes of me (an ignorant twat) over the rights and wrongs are never going to do anyone any good and certainly isn't going to change the events of that day.

My original point (and I know I put it in a very confrontational way but I have my reasons for feeling as i do) was that because of what happened there, the authorities will not want to go back to the day's of standing areas.

having your reasons for beleiving lies is not a good excuse.

You have your reasons, based on what you choose to beleive. Thats crap. I will not have an argument here, but ignorance is nothing to be celebrated. Read up on it if you want an opinion of any value, if you dont, then keep your thoughts to yourself, no matter what your 'reasons' are for beleiving what you do.

don't forget Barn that it was also (according to Liverpool fans) actually Chelsea's fault that Heisel happened!

Scott

yep it was the chelsea and millwall fans what done it la'

So on a Chelsea site I'm not allowed to say anything that may offend a scouser. You lot really are so far up your own arses that it's embarrassing. If you want people to agree with your thoughts stick to the f*cking liverpool sites.

Barn i'm with you mate!

Who cares what these scousers think?? Go ahead and give your opinion even if it does offend some people. After all it is a CHELSEA forum.

I've noticed RedRobMol has left his location out. I wonder why?? Could it be because he's a southern scouser???

i'm up my own arse for telling you not to be ignorant? Why would you want to be ignorant.

Is it right to say all blacks should leave the country if i say i on a national front website? is it f**k. A wrong and ignorant opinion should be told it is wrong and ignorant wherever it is seen. I couldnt give a flying f**k what you think of me or what you think of scousers (i am not actually a scouser as i have mentioned before by the way) however i do give a f**k about people lying and beleiving lies about my club and my fellow fans.

As for being there, no I wasnt, but does that mean it is acceptable to spread lies? There was an investigation which laid the blame at the feet of the South Yorkshire police and poor crowd management, not at the hand of innocent football supporters. I said i wouldnt argue about it, so i shallnt go into any more details for you now.

As for Heysel, as it appears all the ignorance is coming out in one fowl swoop, I dont know anyone who blames Chelsea fans for that. I also dont know how anyone can speak about that in the same breath as Hillsborough. Heysel was a result of a number of factors, one of which without doubt was the hooligan element of brittish football, or more specifically the hooligan element of Liverpool FC at the time. However, if you are of the opinion that English clubs were thrown out of Europe because of Liverpool, then you are not just ignorant, you are stupid. That was the final straw, the one that broke the camels back and it was a shame that a tragedy was ever allowed to happen, and I am ashamed that my club was at the pinnacle of it. It has f**k all to do with Hillsborough though.

the first bit i have quoted is arrogant in the extreme.

the second, i shall answer as i have before. I am from Birmingham, living in Leeds, with scouse family. Do i have your permission to support my club now? please?

I don't care if it is arrogant in the extreme! Within reason none of us should care if our words offend people. Just look at the state this country is in with all the Political Correctness!

Like it or lump it mate! After all it is a CHELSEA forum!!!! (am i repeating myself a bit??)

F*ck that, scoucers piled into hillsborough without tickets...caused the police to panic, and a disaster struck, you can't calim that you as liverpool fans are completley lameless. I half the travelling fnas hadn'tarrived without tickets, and then tried to bully their way into the ground, then we would not be having this conversations. As for Heisel, I am not claiming it to be on the same grounds as Hillsborough: however, several Liverpool fans have, in the past, slaimed complet innocence in the events there...saying that it was Chelsa (and, or) millwall fans that casued the riots, and not Liverpool fans. That, my friend is ignorrance. If you are gonne walk about Europe, thinin your team and the fans are this sh*t thenat least be responsible for your fu*king actions!

I bet there are a ton of familis in shffield and Turin that hate liverpool too, so what's your excuse!

Political correctnes is one thing, and not caring if you offend people within reason is totally understandable when you have your views on football matters, but when you are talking about peoples lives, not just the 96 who lost their lives, but the hundreds or thousands affected by that loss then you are crossing a line in my opinion.

Is "after all, its a chelsea forum" an excuse to be a prick? I know chelsea fans have (or used to before the sky generation) a stigma attached to them, but is it a blanket cover for anything goes bullsh*t?

Scott, where do you get this info from? that is a genuine question, because this is the ignorance of which i spoke earlier. To beleive something that is bullsh*t is not on its own a bad thing, unless you refuse to educate yourself about it when someone tells you you are wrong. I am now telling you.

The previous year we had played a semi against forest at Hillsborough and thousands of fans turned up without tickets, there were no lives lost. Around that time we were the best team in the country and whenever we had a high profile game like a semi final thousands of reds travelled on the off chance of getting a ticket or getting in. That comes with success. The previous year the police managed and although there were concerns, in 89 when they knew what to expect they had not prepared in any way for it. There were road works on the way to Sheffield causing major tailbacks which resulted in thousands of fans getting to the game late (not rolling out of the pub as that lovable red topped rag would have you beleive) and the police should have ordered the kick off to be delayed, but they when one constable did, his request was denied. Then they made a catastrophic error in opening the gates. Once inside, there were 2 sides of the leppings lane end which were sparsly populated but because of the terrible crowd management the majority of fans pushed into the central pens so that they could see the game as they were already late (understandable instinct)

f**k it, it is clear that you will continue to beleive what you want to beleive. I suggest that you visit http://www.constrast.org/hillsboroughhttp://www.constrast.org/hillsborough which has much more information than i can provide and if only one of you reading this visits it and has a change of opinion then it is a good thing in my view.

Back to Heysel, unfortunately, and i can only reitterate that which i have posted before. I dont know anyone who beleives it wasnt the fault of liverpool fans, however it was a major f**k up in many other areas which resulted in the deaths of those fans. I dont wish to make excuses so please do not think that i am, but Heysel was never fit to hold the game, and our club made this comment to Uefa a long time prior to the match, it was delapidated. The absense of emergency services prevented the chance of resucitation of the injured but above all else hooligans from liverpool football club caused the problems.

As for people in Sheffield hating us, i dont know, but i would be confused if they did, it was the people of liverpool who died, not the people of sheffield. I know there are many in Turin who do and who will, but our club is constantly attemptin to bridge those gaps and improve our name in that city. I am sure you are aware that English fans have never been particularly welcome in that country, just ask the liverpool fans stabbed and slashed the year before in Rome, or the West Ham fans assaulted this year in Sicily.

I just wanted to apologise for my antagonistic tone throughout this thread, as I am aware that I am a 'foreigner' on this site and am essentially your guest, however as I am sure you can understand the topics i have dicussed are emotive ones for most (if unfortunately not all) Liverpool fans.

I am angered by the refusal to change the set in stone opinions and do truly hope that at least someone may have a change of attitude due to my ranting.

so, to sum up, please accept my apologies for my apparent angst on these matters.

Rob ,

Heysel from our view .

Your then Chairman in a post match interview after the disaster stated that other fans were responsible for starting the riot and they seemed pleased with what had happened after the event. When he was questioned directly by a journalist ? Was it Chelsea fans ? he nodded in agreement . This was picked up and widely reported as fact through Europe. Now the event caused a lot of hatred amongst us at the time as:

A ) We were blamed for no reason other than to divert the truth

B) If you had won we would have qualified for Europe for the first time in 25 years

C) The punishment you got from the football authorities was just so biased it was untrue .From a set of fans that had suffered being banned from away games having to play home games behind closed doors and threatened with relegation and possible expulsion from the league to see your club get English football banned from Europe for 5 years and still allowed to play (and win ) the same league was very hard to take. You set English football back 5 years as a result .

Hillsbrough was regrettably waiting to happen . The fact that Rottenham fans were crushed in exactly the same way a couple of years prior and there advice ignored beggars belief

This is a topic we went into in great detail on the old site and if I could access the old files I would dig it out as it would save a lot of typing!!

I typed tons on it then and I don?t have the heart to do it all again so I will keep my thoughts brief.

Heysel and Hillsbrough are, for me, two very different kettles of fish and I find it hard to even discuss them within a similar context.

Hillsbrough was caused by a handful of bad mistakes and enthusiastic supporters. There was no malice, no intent, no violence and no way of realising the terrible consequences of individual actions. I don?t blame the people who tried to get into the game without tickets, it is something that has happened many many times in football in the past (and I would have done the same thing myself if Chelsea were in a cup semi and I didn?t have a ticket). Yes you can say that what happened was partially due to these people going in without tickets however I think the consequence is so far removed from the perceived risk that pinning the blame for the death of innocent people is wrong.

Heysel was a result of a number of factors, not least of which was the violence shown by both Liverpool and Juventus supporters. Other factors definitely played a part including the condition of the stadium, planning, the over zealous behaviour of the local police force in the days building up to the game (any of us who have travelled to away games in Europe can relate to that) etc. Do I blame Liverpool fans (that should read ?some Liverpool fans? for what happened that night ? of course I do, it is impossible not to.

Do I purely blame Liverpool fans for the 5 year ban and the all seater stadiums ? definitely not. These things didn?t happen off the back of one off incidents, they were a result of a culmination of events that happened in football grounds throughout the UK for an extended period of time, events which we saw no shortage of at the Bridge and which Chelsea fans were also involved with at away grounds.

Where I do disagree Redrob is your claim that the Liverpool are constantly attempting to bridge the gap (in relation to Turin) ? I think that is the case now but I think it is a case of too little too late. I think the club handled Heysel very badly for too long and it took them far too long to accept a portion of responsibility for what happened. For too long they pointed figures at everyone but their own fans.
