Agree with you on SA, it was a great tournament in terms of organisation and fan engagement. I think Germany 2006 was the peak; fantastic tournament, well run and a lot of local hype (it was great being there for a week during the World Cup). They really have screwed it all up from here, South Africa I think was the pinnacle, can't get better than that, and even despite Spain winning it I think it was a superb tournament held in the best of places, Brazil is obviously on of the main nations in the World cup since it's start and it will without doubt be a fantastic world cup, but after that it's going to straight down the drain.
Can't wait what they have in store for 2026 - a match in every country perhaps?
I would honestly rather the World Cup was in Ghana than Qatar. Qatar is not a footballing country, there will be no local hype and the whole thing will be flat.
For 2026 a footballing/sporting hub has to be chosen: USA, Australia, Argentina, Most of Europe even West Africa. There will need to be a buzz after the disaster that will be 2022.
