The Avengers.

Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor e.t.c all in the same movie? Better than porn!

The Shawshank Redemption - no. 1 for me.

Speed, Forrest Gump, Mean Girls, The Mummy & Liar Liar to name a few, basically films I grew up with.

More modern era is The Hunger Games & Catching Fire.

Nothing beats The Departed for me. Inglorious Basterds & Django Unchained up there too.

From my childhood Ghostbusters and I love Braveheart Goodfellas and A Bronx Tale

On top of my head, the movies I can watch without ever being bored.....

The Harder They Come

Half Nelson

Detachment

This Is England (Mainly for the soundtrack)

The Last King of Scotland (Mainly for Forrest Whitaker as Idi Amin)

I used to go to the cinema a lot, but I've hardly hone for the past years. I can't be bothered with it anymore, particularly in view of prices and annoying people. Unfortunately, that means I miss many very good films... So my list is a throwback to many years ago:

Casablanca

Some like it hot

Star Wars series

Close Encounters of the third kind

Henry V (Branagh version)

The hunt for Red October

Shawshank Redemption

3. Old Bond films.
Any particular favourites? Here are mine:

The Spy Who Loved Me (The Lotus, Jaws, beautiful locations, Moore on top form)

From Russia with Love (A true spy adventure, brilliant fight with Red Grant, charismatic Karim Bey)

Goldfinger (Oddjob, "I expect you to die" etc)

Live and Let Die (Fantastic soundtrack, quirky but fresh Voodoo vibe to it)

OHMSS (despite Lazenby's acting, an excellent Bond film)

The Living Daylights( Dalton is cold and brutal, good story, the cello!)

A lot of obvious choices already been mentioned.

My favourite film (definitely of the last 15 years) is Donnie Darko. Amazing film!

A mention to The Sixth Sense as well, though not one of those you can watch over again.

Inglourious Basterds, the tension in this film is electric. Just about to start on CH4 HD.

My top 5:

1: Goldfinger (The Aston, Tilly Masterson, the laser, the golf game, Pussy Galore).

2: From Russia with Love (Oft-cited as the best of the films, hard not to include it).

3: Dr. No (Hat tip to the film that started it all, the Ursula Andress scene).

4: The Living Daylights (Dalton's Bond is much closer to Fleming's Bond, a refreshing interpriation of the character).

5: The Spy Who Loved Me (Moore's best by quite a distance, submarines [i'm a sub junkie], Egypt, Italy, the parachute scene after the ski chase, the Lotus).

Reservoir Dogs probably just inches it for me, but i'll list off my favourites in no particular order

  • Reservoir Dogs
  • No Country for old men
  • The entire Lord of the Rings trilogy
  • Fight Club
  • American History X
  • Memento
  • Vertigo
  • 500 Days of Summer
  • Blade Runner
  • District 9
  • Pulp Fiction
  • Star Wars 4-6
  • Nolan's Batman movies
  • American Beauty
  • Drive
