Chelsea vs LAFC (CWC) Mon 16th June 20:00 GMT

Group stages we play the lads who haven't played for a while, they should/will be good enough to make it to the knockouts.
Then introduce the 'big guns' depending who the opposition is.
Easy peasy.. another trophy and 100mil in the bank.

 
Personally think with the grueling season ahead, I think we should have taken a lot of the players who have been out on loan with us. The club see it as a continuation of the season just finished, however we have people returning who could have helped in these games and tell sell them. Most of the players being used, especially in the midfield and attack are going to be playing another minutes. Especially with Sancho ending his loan, we could have taken the likes of Felix, Sterling and Chukwuemeka. Just hope the players will not be shattered going into the season.

 
Thankfully few if any first team players will be on that pitch.

 
The venue is great - been many times and its a fantastic modern stadium. Unrelated to FCWC, its a relatively cheap stadium to visit also. The owner of the Falcons insists on good value refreshments, with concessions there often under $10.

Now the pitch - yikes! This is a good test for the 2026 World Cup, but believe that requires a much deeper substrate from Fifa. What they rolled out there, while I am sure is good quality and looks thick sod, will be bumpy as it gets and likely cut up. Will be interested to see - likely better than the astro that is underneath.

Forecast is for 31C at game time. Maresca’s slow style of play has been all about preparing for days like this.

The stadium has a retractable roof that closes with Aircon. We have had a fair bit a rain lately so the roof will most likely be closed.

The roof will almost certainly be closed. First due to temps, second the ongoing likelihood of storms, and finally, I can't remember the last time they opened it! With that, its actually quite cool inside with the air con, so no issue for the players there. Just hope the pitch doesn't cut up.

No idea on the lineup. Bayern went with a strong side today. My predicted lineup:

Yeah - we should all be watching cricket this time of year!

Hard to get excited about this tournament. Wasn't going to bother watching any of it but I see our match tonight is on CH 5, so will have it on and try and stay awake!

 
Agree, it's a strange time of the year for football. I mean, is this officially post season, or the early pre-season tournament?

I think we will start with most of our starters. Depending on how first half goes second half we will use all the available subs.

I'm kinda hoping that early in the game, Sanchez goes to collect a cross, and somehow, both of his arms fall off.

That said, Maresca would probably still select him for the next game.
