I agree Simon, but most managers have this at every appointment. Granted we have actively overpaid and overhyped a number of average players. But Emery took on Gerrards players, O'Neil, Iraola, there are others, all taking positions where players are average or are underperforming or the previous manager has been sacked implying that the teams are playing crap. 

Therefore  isn't it par for the course, doesn't every manager have the challenge of creating an Identity,  a style and a turn around of results from their predecessor.  This guy does not appear to have made any difference regarding any of the points above and looks to have had no effect at all regarding this supposed fantastic man management skill and intensity that he has.

 
You've got to give him the season. Even GP I wanted him to have a full season though I felt he wasn't the right one.

I know Poch isn't the right one, for us long term but where we were when he was appointed I felt he was, for reasons I've gone over previously.

He has taken us to the Carling cup final and though the league position, tactical set up and in game management leaves much to be desired, it's not out of reach to still sneak into Europe even through league position. 

Plus he's really been hamstrung by injuries. I don't think he has ever played what will be his full first choice ever since the season started. At least going on the basis of how pre-season shaped up.

Jose is an emotional choice but is he the right man to work with this young group? I’m struggling to think of a choice right now unless we end up going to Brighton again.

The thing is it's not us expected to know who in the industry offers everything that the club need.

But isn't this the task of an elite Sporting director. Its not about finding some 14 year old Brazilian and paying 10 times more than anyone is interested in paying and the lauding yourself as some astute perceptive guru.

One of Roman's finest moments was not appointing Jose. It was appointing Peter Kenyon. Who then went and got Mourinho. 

It doesn't matter what we think. This whole approach from these fakes is crap.

Bomb Winstanley,  bomb Stewart. Go and get Edwards or another real elite SD. This person's first job is to spend the next 4 months identifying the correct manager and then to develop a structure that allows the manager to get the best out of the players.

 
I find it funny that people will say Chelsea weren't playing great near the end of Tuchels spell and dont want him back but have faith that Poch will eventually get it right. Put it this way out of the 2 of them i would of had more faith in Tuchel getting things back on track than Poch.

That has to be clickbait surely though doesn't it. If Alonso is distancing himself from a job back at his spiritual home, a job that many would see as a natural progression is his upward trajectory how could he possibly contemplate taking a backwards step to this train wreck of a club.

You wouldn't want to be the one following Klopp though. You'd want to be the one AFTER the one that followed Klopp ... with perhaps a PL stepping stone in between ?

 
Picking Poch shake it all about, cause is punny. 

That and Winstanley and Stewart need to be booted first otherwise we just waste a bunch of money getting these guys to hire another inept manager.

Tuchel had significantly more time, and by the end the team were regressing badly. He had us playing some truly awful stuff, the worst I have seen at times. He had the massive high to the UCL at the start, and then a continued downwards spiral.

We finished 3rd with a +43 goal difference, the football can't have been that bad. Lost 2 close finals to Liverpool on penalties, and lost to the Champions League winners on extra time thanks to a Modric wonder pass. All of that was in the midst of massive turmoil at the club, and an injury crisis similar to this season.

I don't think Tuchel has done a good job at Bayern (he's abandoned the 3-4-3 system he used here), but he was miles better at Chelsea than the 3 managers that have succeeded him. 

 
Maybe we get a result at Palace...

On the fence - if we can get Amorim better to pull the plug now, if we can't give Poch a stay of execution until next season (dependent of course if we avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle). You'd have to be a magician to get any consistency from what collectively for me is the worst group of players I've seen play for this club since pre-Roman.

I doubt Amorim would leave in the middle of a title charge, same with Xabi Alonso.

I'd be fine with putting Thiago Silva as player manager and waiting till summer

Today sealed it for me - Poch out.  

The club is absolutely broken.  Sadly I don't think changing the manager will have much effect as every single department of this club, top to bottom, side to side, is misfiring.  I'd like to hear a little more from the owners or directors at this time, but we know that won't happen and the manager normally takes the fall.  However, there are good reasons for Poch to go:

- We have no identity.  Nothing, no patterns, nothing to build on
- Even our recent wins, papering over cracks, weren't great.  Luton (A), Palace (H), Fulham (H) - all last 10 min scrambles/chaos
- Makes poor decisions, repeatedly.  Players out of position, continues to select underperforming players, poor timing for subs.  Has ZERO plan B
- Worse discipline in the league
- Repeat the same mistakes time and time again.  How many games have we conceded goals down the inside left - just look back to Brentford or Villa at home at the start, to Liverpool and Wolves today.  Teams still exploit that area
- Maybe down to medical/sports science, but awful injury management
- Some of the most inept performances I have seen from a Chelsea team, all this season.  Wolves (H and A), United (A), Newcastle (A), Boro (A), Liverpool (A)
- No bounce back or reaction after said inept performances.  Nothing changes
- We may lack quality, but we are outworked, outfought, outthought, and over powered time and time again.  It really is men vs. boys - atleast be hard to play against
- A manager that just sits in the dugout, looks somewhat resigned
- No real development of young players - they are regressing

Changing the manager only creates more instability, but what have we to lose at this point.  We'll struggle to get a top coach, but were De Zebri or Postecoglu considered top before their current respective roles?

I thought Poch would be the needed breath of fresh air this club was calling out for.  And again, the issues go much deeper, but we're 30+ games into Poch's tenure and we have regressed.  He has to go - give a new manager the rest of another write off season and a full summer.
