Tyler Adams

Decent player, injury record isnt the best though.

Edson Alvarez going to West Ham for £32m, wouldve preferred that tbh especiallyas he adds some aerial prowess too, but Adams is a more defensively astute Gallagher, has his limitations but could be a decent squad player so we dont have to use Enzo as the defensive player in the pivot if Caicedo isnt playing.

He will take minutes from Santos though you would imagine. Is this going to hinder Santos's development?

He has always impressed me when I have seen him play for Leeds or US national team. He has had his fair share of injuries and he is still recovering from hamstring problem so he won't be available for a few weeks. Not sure I can see us bringing in both Adams and Caicedo but it is good to have a decent alternative at a sensible price.

I honestly don't see the need the more I think about it when you consider Ugochukwu isn't really an inexperienced player.
I think it's probable that Pochettino has asked for more premier league experience and experience in general, this doesn't seem like a signing Boehly and the scouting team would go for on paper so I can only assume the manager has pushed for it.

I mean fair enough but this talk that Pochettino wants a small squad doesn't seem feasible now or in the future. I suppose if they are good enough they will find a way in the team.

Who are your 4 for the double pivot right now? Enzo, Santos, Gallagher and ??? (room for one more) 25 sounds about right... we were pushing 35 at points last season.

Might as well not bother then. You don’t pay £23m for a 19yr old midfielder, loan them out for a season, and then block his path into the 1st team with potentially a £25m 24yr old midfielder who is potentially a backup to a £90m 21yr old midfielder. With all 3 potentially on 7yr contracts, it all makes no sense.

The smart move will be either to loan Tyler Adams for this season with an option to buy, and monitor the development of Ugochuwku out on loan and have a decision to make in the summer. Another option will be to sign a DM in the 27-28yr range (Marko Grujic, Al Musrati, Mikel Merino) on a 3yr contract for around the same fee.

3 year contract!?  We don’t do that anymore

Don’t see the hype .. seems a decent stop gap solution in my opinion… not physical enough .. not particularly quick .. tackles seen hit and miss.. what am I missing on this one!!

If we sign Adams I assume it would be instead of Caicedo.
It's instead of Gallagher.

I fully expect our midfield will be Enzo, Caicedo, Santos, Adams.

I think it's a sensible purchase.

might as well kept Ampadu
Adams is linked with us, United, Tottenham. Ampadu went to Leeds. There's a reason.
