Ah it's 2am here in the UK. Japan are looking very good so far, every WC match has been entertaining!

Love all the excuses coming out about how England where the better side.

Italy where in control of the game if you ask me, we couldn't produce anything besides poor crosses.

Also Pirlo and De Rossi just ran the game, it just goes to show how much above they are from Gerrard and Henderson. All this talk about Gerrard being the most underrated CM ever, all he does is hoof the f**king ball up every time he gets it, Pirlo besides 2 bad passes at the start was f**king quality and we sat deep through most of it. Miles above Gerrard.

I'm not an English fan (USA / Belgium), but I did watch the game.  And while you are partially right, England had many more offensive opportunities to score.  However, the misses by Rooney, the terrible crosses by everyone, and Gerrard playing incredibly uninspired, they never really were a threat to win.  The only players who looked motivated and good were Sturridge and Sterling.  I'd go with something like this for the Uruguay game.

------------------------Hart----------------------

Shaw ----- Jagelika ---- Cahill ----- Baines

----- Henderson ------------- Lampard -------

Sterling ---------- Lallana ---------- Welbeck

-------------------- Sturridge ----------------------

Let some of the young guns get their chance on the big stage

Sorry not for me.

If you look at the passing stats Italy made about 80 more passes than us and had a better passing ratio.

We need to be more technical, Wilshire is a technical player, Henderson isn't, Gerrard needs to stop smashing the ball up field every time he gets it and Welbeck shouldn't have even been called up to begin with.

To be honest I would even go as far to put Wilshire behind the striker, Rooney isn't as bad as some say but he definitely doesn't offer any creativity. We need the middle man to pick up the ball in tight space and can handle that and do something with it, we don't have that. Instead our only option is wingers and wing backs, so predictable. Hodgeson wont change it though, he didn't do it in the Euros even though we got outplayed by every side we played in it, if he didn't learn then he wont learn now. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets the sack after this tournament.

Actually I feel you need more players who can make a move and create their own high quality shots (much like Sturridge).  You have enough pace with Henderson, Sterling, and the occasional burst of speed from Welbeck.

------------------------Hart----------------------

Shaw ----- Jagelika ---- Cahill ----- Baines

----- Barkley ------------- Lampard -------

Sterling ---------- Wilshire---------- Welbeck

-------------------- Sturridge ----------------------

Is that any better?  You get your "Creativity" in Wilshire, and the ability to create a good scoring chance in Barkley (he actually looked very good in the limited amount of time he got against Italy)

Wow!  G;ad I got up again in time to see Drogba come on!  2 goals in 2 minutes!  Hope Drogba scores the third.

2-1...Didier comes on and the game turns around in an instant...no coincidence...didn't get either goal but Ivory Coast raised their game and japan shat themselves

Yeah but I would definitely trade Welbeck for someone else, probably Lallana.

And if Lampard was to play there then we would have to swap Barkley for Wilshire. Lampard would be better than Gerrard to be honest that's not being bias either because at least Lampard would want to get the ball forward on the floor, rather than putting it in the air all the damn time.

Seems like Japan let Ivory Coast have the ball on the wing and don't put pressure until they get into deep crossing positions, so they just crossed early both times and scored both times
