The amount of times we penetrated their defence. Our passing, our shooting wasn't far off. Our pace getting around the back, a lot of our early crosses. Our link up play. 

We looked like we had teeth, we always looked a threat. That's a big positive. Compare that to our previous performances and put your hand on your heart and say you have seen England play better than that recently. I don't think you could. It was a positive performance. A lot of us were expecting a defensive show. Far from it. We attacked and gave it a good shot. 2-2 would have been a fair result in my opinion.

We have a lot of young players out there. We'll beat Uruguay on Thursday if we play like that. Suarez has no match fitness and Cavani isn't anything too special.

It's so annoying that Gerrard is deemed undroppable when he has been putting in poor performances for a decade. His production has been worse than Rooney's over that time.

He never breaks up play and completely ruins our tempo. A horrible defensive midfielder for this team.

I am all for Rooney being dropped, but I would love to see how he performs in a midfield without Gerrard in it.

Gerrard was the biggest passenger tonight, and not for the first time may I add.

Maxi Perreria is banned for the next game. Sterling will have a field day against their 2nd choice.

 
I'm honestly surprised people are actually complaing about England's performance, it's the best England have played in years. Some England fans are extremely hard to please it would seem.

 
Can't even take banter or debate maturely...who is the miserable old sod again?

Personally I'd have taken Cole and Shaw , one good defender and an attacking alternative .

I called you a miserable sod because I believe you are. How has that got anything to do with maturity? Your negativity reminds me of that of a teenage girl.

 
 would be interested to see Henderson and Barkley behind Rooney in midfield with Llana and Sterling either side of Sturridge.  Tell the wingbacks to stay at home, not offering much useful aside from giving fans in row z a souvenir ball.  Play the ball up asap

I would have taken Cole and Baines. Why bring Shaw when he's realisitically not going to get a look in? At least with Cole, you have a defensive option as well as Baines, the attacking option.

Henderson was good tonight. Brought some urgency to our attacks.

We have the basics of a good team.converting draws/losses into wins will decide how pleased we will be. We lost a match we should have had a draw at least.

My choice would have been to leave Baines at home on the basis of one who is dependable and a good defender and the other who is promising left back who is happier attacking. The Baines train left when he declared he got homesick and chose not to travel to South Africa.

Not really.

When you have 2 full backs that really aren't good enough (Ok it's not possible to find a solid RB) and a midfielder (captain) that really hasn't done anything for years you'll always have people moaning.

It comes down to the fact we want them to do better, Should have won tonight.

Blimey just shows how differently we all see games. 

For me it was an arsenal performance! Looked fancy but never really created chances and the italians kept england down to long range shooting. That italian team won't go further than the second round in my opinion and england lost to them. Add to that england have a manager who is afraid to sub or drop certain favourites and it doesn't look good.

I agree with you england may possibly scrape out of the group but that's only because uraguay and costa rica aren't very good. If suarez plays on thursday and is anywhere near match fit I think that could be the end!

I'm english but I don't support the england football team so you can't accuse me of being hard to please because trust me I was pleased with what I saw tonight haha.
